Effective temperature scale and bolometric corrections from 2MASS photometry
We present a method to determine effective temperatures, angularsemi-diameters and bolometric corrections for population I and II FGKtype stars based on V and 2MASS IR photometry. Accurate calibration isaccomplished by using a sample of solar analogues, whose averagetemperature is assumed to be equal to the solar effective temperature of5777 K. By taking into account all possible sources of error we estimateassociated uncertainties to better than 1% in effective temperature andin the range 1.0-2.5% in angular semi-diameter for unreddened stars.Comparison of our new temperatures with other determinations extractedfrom the literature indicates, in general, remarkably good agreement. These results suggest that the effective temperaure scale of FGK starsis currently established with an accuracy better than 0.5%-1%. Theapplication of the method to a sample of 10 999 dwarfs in the Hipparcoscatalogue allows us to define temperature and bolometric correction (Kband) calibrations as a function of (V-K), [m/H] and log g. Bolometriccorrections in the V and K bands as a function of T_eff, [m/H] and log gare also given. We provide effective temperatures, angularsemi-diameters, radii and bolometric corrections in the V and K bandsfor the 10 999 FGK stars in our sample with the correspondinguncertainties.

The Pul-3 catalogue of 58483 stars in the Tycho-2 system
A catalogue of positions and proper motions of 58483 stars (Pul-3) hasbeen constructed at the Pulkovo observatory. The Pul-3 is based on theresults of measurements of photographic plates with galaxies (Deutsch'splan). All plates were taken using the Pulkovo Normal Astrograph (thefirst epoch is in the 1950s and the second epoch is in the 1970s).The Pul-3 catalogue contains stars of mainly 12 to 16.5 mag in 146fields with galaxies in the declination zone from -5o to+85o. The Tycho-2 has been used as a reference catalogue. The mean epoch of the Pul-3 is 1963.25. The internal positional accuracyof the Pul-3 catalogue at the mean epoch of observations is ±80mas. The accuracy of the proper motions is mostly within ±3mas/yr to ±12 mas/yr. Comparisons of the Pul-3 with Tycho-2 andARIHIP have been done at the mean epoch of the Pul-3. The Pul-3 externalpositional accuracy relative to Tycho-2 is ±150 mas.The catalogue is only available in electronic form at the CDS viaanonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/qcat?J/A+A/418/357

Improvement of proper motions for HIPPARCOS stars with photographic plates
In this paper, using the PPM catalog as a preliminary reference catalog,we have reduced 17 exposures on nine plates taken with the 40-cmrefractor at the Zo-Se Station of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatoryfor about 30 years. By means of the central overlapping technique andthe iterative process, high-precision positions and proper motions of 28PPM stars, including six Hipparcos stars in the region of radio source0316 + 413 are obtained. The mean values of the internal standard errorsof proper motions in right ascension and declination for the sixHipparcos stars are +/-0.00069 sec/yr and +/-0.00070 sec/yr,respectively.

Precise positions in the FK4 system for 120 radio source reference stars
Positions are given in the FK4 system for 120 primary reference starsgrouped around the optical counterparts of 11 extragalactic radiosources. The observations were made in 1979 and 1980 with the 6-in.transit circle of the U.S. Naval Observatory. The results reported hererepresent the first step in a three-tiered process to determineastrometric positions of the optical counterparts referred to the systemof the FK4. One application of such positions is the determination of anearly inertial optical reference frame, which eventually may becompared to a reference frame at radio wavelengths.

Meridian observations made in Brorfelde (Copenhagen University Observatory) 1975-76.
This catalogue presents positions for selected faint stars mainly fromAGK3 observed with the 7" transit circle at Brorfelde. The stars aredistributed in 43 selected areas around radio sources and are suitableas reference stars for measuring the optical counterparts to the radiosources. The obscr 'itioi cre carried out from 1975.16 to 1976.04, andevery star was observed at least two times giving a m.s.e. of "13 forthe catalogue positions given in the FK4 system. These positions usedtogether with AGK3 proper motions will in the period 1975 to 1980 have am.s.e. at the epoch ranging from `:13 to `:15, which is less than halfof what is expected when using AGK3 positions. Lithium abundance in stellar atmospheres
Data on the lithium abundance in the atmospheres of 491 stars arecompiled and reduced to a single system. The lithium abundances of thesestars are shown to differ by more than a factor of 1 million, and thedependence of lithium abundance on spectral type is determined forvarious groups of stars. It is found that cooler stars have lowerlithium abundances than hotter stars and that young stars have higherabundances than old stars. Data on the Li-6/Li-7 isotope ratio in theatmospheres of 30 stars are presented which indicate that Li-6 is notobserved in most cases and that the exceptions comprise magneticvariable stars with Li-6/Li-7 ratios of 0.10 to 2.00. It is concludedthat the observational results as a whole are satisfactorily explainedby the hypothesis that the same high lithium abundance characterized allstars at birth but then decreased in the course of evolution due tointermixing of matter.
