Dynamics and Forecasting of Two Chaotic Stars
For two stars (R UMi and RS Cyg) believed to behave chaotically, wedemonstrate that nonlinear forecasting is possible over a time horizonof about a year and calculate their future light curves, verifiableafter photometric measurements take place. We find that the minimalembedding dimension of the dynamics of these stars is three. Wetentatively identify the topology of the respective strange attractors,and argue that the presence of a near-2:1 resonance is a directconsequence of the features of these attractors.
