Two-colour photometry for 9473 components of close Hipparcos double and multiple stars Using observations obtained with the Tycho instrument of the ESAHipparcos satellite, a two-colour photometry is produced for componentsof more than 7 000 Hipparcos double and multiple stars with angularseparations 0.1 to 2.5 arcsec. We publish 9473 components of 5173systems with separations above 0.3 arcsec. The majority of them did nothave Tycho photometry in the Hipparcos catalogue. The magnitudes arederived in the Tycho B_T and V_T passbands, similar to the Johnsonpassbands. Photometrically resolved components of the binaries withstatistically significant trigonometric parallaxes can be put on an HRdiagram, the majority of them for the first time. Based on observationsmade with the ESA Hipparcos satellite.
| The Tokyo PMC catalog 90-93: Catalog of positions of 6649 stars observed in 1990 through 1993 with Tokyo photoelectric meridian circle The sixth annual catalog of the Tokyo Photoelectric Meridian Circle(PMC) is presented for 6649 stars which were observed at least two timesin January 1990 through March 1993. The mean positions of the starsobserved are given in the catalog at the corresponding mean epochs ofobservations of individual stars. The coordinates of the catalog arebased on the FK5 system, and referred to the equinox and equator ofJ2000.0. The mean local deviations of the observed positions from theFK5 catalog positions are constructed for the basic FK5 stars to comparewith those of the Tokyo PMC Catalog 89 and preliminary Hipparcos resultsof H30.
| Observations of double stars and new pairs. XIV Results of a continuing survey of visual double stars are presented,including 4880 measurements made from February 1987 to November 1989.The positions in WDS format and Durchmusterung numbers are given for 194pairs first reported here. Micrometer measurements of 1142 doubles madewith the Swarthmore 61 cm refractor are presented. Magnitudes areestimated for some of the objects. Plate measurements, plateorientations, position angles, number of nights, and measured exposuresare given. Visual observations of 342 pairs obtained in May 1989 atCerro Tololo, mostly with the 1.0 m reflector, are reported.
| 2000 A UV imaging of a 6 deg diameter field around the H and Chi Persei double cluster A stellar field centered close to the h and Chi per double cluster hasbeen observed at 2000 A by the stratospheric balloon-born telescope ofthe SCAP-2000 program. It is shown that the prevailing extinction lawproduces greater extinction at 1965 A than is predicted by the meanextinction law. The results suggest the presence of an H2 cloud in frontof h and Chi Per in the second absorbing layer and in the local arm. Agroup of hot stars centered at the same distance as the molecular cloudmay form an association of OB stars in the local arm.
| UBV photometry of stars whose positions are accurately known. II The present report on the UBV observations of stars with favorableastrometric history gives attention to stars of the BD zones lyingbetween 50 and 54 deg. These observations and their reductions wereperformed from August 1983 to August 1984, as described by Oja (1984).Results are presented as tables for both the standard stars and theprogram stars. Comparisons are conducted between the present Vmagnitudes and those of the NPZT (1982) and AGK3R (1978) catalogs.
| Abundance estimates for the distant anticenter cluster King 8 and Be 19 Spectrophotometric surveys were made of the galactic anticenter openclusters King 8 and Be 19 to obtain abundance data in support ofgalactic evolution studies. The data were taken at Kitt Peak with a 600lines/mm grating centered at 4500 or 4700 A with 9.5 A resolution. Theclusters are 3 kpc beyond the solar system going outward toward the rim.The presence of two early type (A5 or less) stars in King 8 wasconsistent with the stars' photometric positions in the color-magnitudediagram. Both clusters were slightly metal-poor, like the clusters NGC2158 and 2420, which is in accordance with previous estimates of thegalactic abundance gradient.
